Going Home Another Way

Week 2 – The Journey

Three Magi on the Way to Bethlehem, by Hans Thoma

Our Companions and Guides

Dr. Rachel Naomi Remen, the author of Kitchen Table Wisdom, said, “Perhaps the secret of living well is not in having all the answers but in pursuing unanswerable questions in good company.”

I think “pursuing unanswerable questions in good company,” is a good definition of pilgrimage!

For Reflection

If you look back on your spiritual journey throughout your life, who have been your trusted companions and guides?

Who do you have in your life now to play these roles?

Do you play either of these roles for someone else?

These relationships are unique and precious; are you investing enough in finding, building, and sustaining them?

  1. YOU are the answer to most of my questions. If I am a role model for others, that’s for others to say. But YOU are my guide, my counselor, my sounding board, my pilgrimage partner. I am so blessed.

    1. I am honored that you feel that way! And I get so much from you – you help push me out of my comfort zone in so many areas and inspire me with your loyalty, discipline, and perseverance (just to name a few).
