Going Home Another Way
Week 4 – Home Another Way
Three Magi on the Way to Bethlehem, by Hans Thoma
Merry Christmas!
“Any of us who prayed to be transported into God’s presence this Christmas will get our wish – only not, perhaps, in the way we had thought. None of heavens escalators are going up tonight. Everybody up there is coming down tonight, right here, right into our own Bethlehem, bringing us the God who has decided to make his home in our arms.”1
Merry Christmas! Before departing the destination you’ve been journeying to over the last few weeks, take the time to be joyfully present today.
For Reflection
Is there something you can do to remind yourself to be mindful today, rather than getting swept up in the final preparations, cleanup, and general busyness of the holiday? Maybe spend a few minutes in prayer or quiet contemplation before your gathering. Or perhaps there’s a phrase you can silently repeat to yourself throughout the day (every time you pour yourself something to drink or enter the kitchen) that reminds you to soak in the Christmas joy.
