The Wisdom of Advent – Learning to Wait
Week 2: Love.
God may also be waiting for us. Waiting for us to accept His love. Or waiting for us to take the next step toward what we want so that we give him something he can work with.
There is a story recounted in all three of the synoptic Gospels where Jesus asks people what they want from him before healing them (Matt 20:32, Mk 10:51, Lk 18:41). This always seemed a bit strange to me since Jesus knew what they wanted – these were blind men who wanted their sight restored. But the stories seem to tell us there is value in both the asking and in being concise and concrete in stating exactly we want.
